This book is based on lectures given at a crisis management general seminar titled ”Foreign exchange policies, monetary and financial policies and capital markets in Asia”. The seminar was jointly organized between October 2002 and February 2003 by the former Global Security Research Center (now G-SEC, Global Security Research Institute) at Keio University and a COE (Center of Excellence) project ― a research project specially promoted by the Ministry of Education ― titled “Asian Financial Crisis and Macroeconomic Policy Response”.
At the seminar, speakers from the public and private frontlines of the financial sector in Asia, including representatives of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and Rating Agency Malaysia, presented their views on how each nation has coped following the 1997 currency and financial crisis. They also participated in active question and answer sessions.
